The C&I Engineer plays a pivotal role within project delivery, ensuring that engineering and service requirements are met across all sites so that customers identify the company as a trusted and critical partner to their business. The major responsibilities of this position are to deliver control and instrumentation discipline deliverables and ensure that the intent is being carried through the design, interfaces are covered and supporting construction commissioning.


 The C&I Engineer will report to the Team Leader, Secunda Systems Engineering and Design.
 Provide technical input for basic and detail design.
 Deliver quality C&I Engineering deliverables to clients and other disciplines.
 Ensure project schedules and work plans are adhered to.
 Translate control and protection system intention across disciplines during the design phase.
 Evaluate vendor proposals for bid clarifications.
Work closely with other disciplines and aspire to support and achieve the goals of the Company

Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
 3-5 years’ experience as C&I Engineer in Petrochemical industry in Secunda with a proven track record in basic engineering, design, commissioning and operation support.
 Zero tolerance towards unsafe designs, acts, hazards and a passion for a zero harm culture through safe engineering solutions.
 Computer literacy with MS Office, MS Project, and SAP or similar ERP system.
 Knowledge of DCS/ESD (Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson) & PLC (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider) systems,
 Knowledge of safety & protection systems,
 Knowledge of HMI & SCADA systems,
 Knowledge of fieldbus communication systems (Profibus, Modbus etc.)
 Knowledge of brownfields system replacement engineering and design for both DCS and ESD.
 Good grounding in instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure, level etc.) and control element design practices in an intrinsically safe environment
 Knowledge of applicable design codes, standards and regulations.
 Ability to work across disciplines, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
 Must be able to develop fit for purpose solutions to partners in order to create a long term relationship.
